My Gratitude List

Top 10 THINGS I AM THANKFUL FOR:
10. Peace – Although my circumstances aren’t always ideal, my soul is at rest.

9. Joy – 2009 was one of my most challenging years. Yet I have more vivid memories of laughter than sorrow.

8. Tiger- So my parents got a puppy this year. Anyone who knows me knows that I love animals and they love me. So, I am excited to have a new member of the family to wrestle with when I go home.

7. Virgin Islands – So I haven’t been in three years but I am grateful that this beautiful paradise with endless sunshine, crystal clear ocean and pristine white sand is where I get to call home.

6. Freedom – It is something we take for granted. Recently, I had a conversation with a friend from another country and I was again reminded that my life would be so different if I didn’t live in America.

5. Four seasons – I didn’t always appreciate the winter and fall seasons. Now I can relate. I put on my winter coat with deeper insight now.

4. Ethnic food – Ok. I’m just sayin’. I had Ethiopian food and Thai food in the same week and I was just a grinnin’ the rest of the week.

3. Mentors and Friends – I was carried this year by these people. If my friends and mentors were worth money, I could retire today an ubergazillionaire. I think I just made up that word. But you would too if you knew my mentors and friends.

2. My family is not perfect (you can relate) but I am the most loved girl I know. I have always been believed in, adored and encouraged. I have only positive affirmation in my heart and mind when I hear my family’s voice.

1. God – My source, my breath, my everything. Without Him, I have nothing.

Ok. So the list isn’t really in priority order. I wrote this post late at night… see the bags under my eyes. Hehehe – not that I’m not grateful for my eyes — ok, I digress.

What are you grateful for today?

When Should I Quit a Job?

I am sharing these thoughts after a recent conversation with a protege. There are some mentoring questions I receive over and over. Since they are common, I will begin to post the answers online. I hope it is helpful to you.

Quite honestly, most people quit their bosses more often than they quit their job.
Here are my 3 tips to determine if you are ready to move on from your current position.

Plan for extra time

Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday Jesus! (and Crystal) ;0)
I miss my family today but I get to spend the holidays with friends here in D.C.

Truly, it is pure bliss during this season.
Here’s a pic of my mom and me on a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean a couple years ago. I wish you all the best Christmas, and a wonderful New Year!

Transition, Gotta Love It?

light at end of tunnel

LISTEN TO THIS POST

Have you ever felt the subtle but real winds of change blowing in your life? You can’t put your finger on it but you are certain that something is definitely coming. You can sense it. And you can almost taste it.

You really don’t quite fit where you are now but you are certain that you’re not where you are going to be. In short, you’re in that “in-between” stage. It’s called TRANSITION! Gotta love it, huh?

Isn’t it the strangest feeling? A better word for it is ‘angst’. But sometimes the word ‘torment’ would be more appropriate. Either way, you know something’s a brewin’ but just not quite ready to manifest? You’re not even sure what is next. It could be a job, a relationship, or a move. Who knows?

All you know is change is coming. But the details of who, what, when or where remain unknown —

And what’s even more daunting is that transition often shows up on your doorstep wayyyyy before its time. Sometimes weeks, months or even years come and go before something tangible ever manifests…

Ugh. Gotta love that!?!

Well, if you are ‘in between’ or in transition, I want you to know that you’re not alone on the journey. Look around you. There are tons of other travelers on the turbulent path of transition.

I, too, have sensed the winds of change swirling all around me and have been completely clueless as to what’s next. And because my heart was full of question marks, I allowed indecision to immobilize me; nailing my feet to the ground.

Like you, there are times when I am fully engaged, thriving and lovin’ life and at other moments I am distraught and confused, postured on bended knees desperately pleading and begging for a free pass to anywhere but here. I’m just sayin’.

So, can you relate? Are you in Transition? How do you know?

I want to support you during this season. I have some fun thoughts on transition that I think will help you. This may be part one to a 10,000 part series. lol.

Ok Not 10k but you know we can talk about this forever. So, are you in transition?
